Michael Pearson

September 17, 1961 — February 13, 2024

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, cousin, & friend returned to our Heavenly Father February 13, 2024, at 20:36 while doing what he loves: providing for his family & driving his truck. Michael was born in Long Beach, California to Loretta Pearson Pinkerton & Johnny Manuma. He was raised by his grandparents Joseph and Tafatafa Pearson.

Mikey grew up on the ocean. He was a great surfer and skater. He was the ultimate jokester. In 1988, Mike was sent to American Samoa after getting in trouble to get a better life and a new of pace. As his grandma would say, “go to Samoa and find you a Samoan wife”. He met Saumolia who landed about the same time from Santa Ana, California taking a short vacation before submitting her mission papers for the LDS Church. Things didn’t go as planned for Saumolia and she ended up working in Mike’s sister’s nightclub, Evalani’s Cabaret. They both were put in charge of the place and eventually led up to the start of their beautiful, crazy love story.

They wanted to leave Samoa for a better life, in 1991 when his grandfather passed in California, they used it as an opportunity to make a move. Mike moved shortly after they had gotten married and Saumolia moved with their first born to her family in Hawaii to have their second child and later to California and re-unite with Mike. Things didn’t work out in Cali and eventually moved to Utah where some of her siblings and family lived.

In Utah, everything changed. In 2002, he was baptized in the LDS church. He loved to read, his favorite books were, Think and Grow Rich, Who Moved My Cheese and Rich Dad Poor Dad. He was always business minded, always tried to better his circumstances. He completed the Dave Ramsey Course twice and Nouveau Riche University in 2000. Trucking had been his passion, he started in 1979 at a very young age working for his older brother John delivering furniture in their 30-foot bobtail as Pearson Trucking. He started his partnership with JT Ellis Trucking in the North Dakota Oil Field in 2011. Their truck business Silver Shack Property & Transport Inc. was established Apr 21, 2015.

Michael has blessed us with 34 beautiful years of endless love, laughter, and compassion. He left us with knowledge of self-empowerment and improvement. He showed us through his actions what it means to love the way the Savior loved and to be a light to anyone who needed it. In his words, “Live like no one else, so you can later live like no one else.”
