Michael Ennis Inskeep

August 14, 1940 — June 21, 2021

Michael Ennis Inskeep, 80, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2021, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after suffering a stroke and surrounded by family. He was born August 14, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ennis Worden and Mary Florence (Haltom) Inskeep. After graduating from Granite High School, Mike served in the U.S. Army for three years and was stationed in Germany. On June 28, 1961, he married his sweetheart, Valene Evans. They raised four lucky children. Mike started his career as an electrician with IBEW Local 354 and then worked in construction management for the electrical engineering firm, BNA Consulting.
Mike taught his children the value of hard work and the joy of constantly learning. He always loved learning a new skill. Mike never met a new technology or gadget he didn’t love. He was a licensed private pilot, learned to skydive, tied his own fishing flies and was constantly perfecting his barbeque and cooking skills. He also enjoyed sharing what he learned with others.
He loved sports, especially baseball, football and basketball. He coached countless little league baseball teams and loved cheering on the Utah Utes. He rarely missed a game, recital or performance involving any of his children or grandchildren.
He also loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, camper and did several whitewater rafting trips with his children and grandchildren. He celebrated his retirement with a camping and fishing trip along the Al-Can highway through Canada and Alaska. For many years, he and Valene enjoyed yearly trips to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Mike is preceded in death by his beloved wife, whom he cared for unceasingly during her battle with Alzheimer’s, his parents and brother, Richard H. (“Dick”) Taylor. He is survived by: children Bill (Melanie) Inskeep, David (Elizabeth) Inskeep, Allen (Carrie Mayne) Inskeep and Susie (Mark) Hindley; grandchildren Whitney, Sarah, Nick, Jack, Georgia and Sloane; great-grandchildren Seth, Luke, Sadie and Georgina; and his loyal companion and rescue dog, Hank.
