Michael Vern Anderson

October 31, 1951 — January 13, 2025

Michael was Born October 31, 1951 in Tacoma, Washington at the Madigan Army Hospital to Corporal Vern Alvin Anderson from Smithfield, Utah, and Artheta Hemmert of St. Charles, Idaho. Mike passed away on January 13, 2025. Age 73. 

He was the oldest of five children. His siblings are: Bryan Joseph (Barbara) Anderson, Denise (Hugh) Terry, Ron Allvin Anderson and twin Don William (Kathy) Anderson.

He attended South Kearns Elementary School, Kearns Jr. High, and Kearns High School.

Mike has always been a hard worker in all that he did. He started earning money at a very young age. He did yard work and any kind of job he could find. He also worked on farms where he picked vegetables. 

He loved being in the Chess Club at school, He loved going Golfing, Bowling, Fishing, Vintage Car Shows, Playing Horseshoes, Camping, Reading, Singing, and playing the Harmonica. His favorite music artists are: Elvis and Afterglow. 

He graduated from Kearns High School with honors. He received a full-Tuition Scholarship at the University of Utah in Engineering. 

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was called to serve in the Gulf States Mission. The Gulf States Mission included the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Missouri. He Served in 1971-1973. He was appointed as a District Leader and also the Publications Manager. He was able to earn and pay for all costs of his mission in full. 

After coming home from his mission he met Margie Stromness and they were married on May 2, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a devoted and caring husband for Margie throughout his life. 

They had four Children: Jarom-Jay Michael (Pam) Anderson, Jesse Dean Anderson, Marci (Kevin) Sharp, Jacob James Anderson, 

They have 9 Grandchildren: Chelsea Anderson, Sean (Tiana) Wallace, Jaiden Hughes Sharp, Olivia Sarah Sharp, Isabella Dawn Anderson, Braxton William Dean Anderson, Josie Ann Anderson, Kyson Jesse Anderson, Zackary Rik Saville Anderson.

He served in scouting and enjoyed being with the boys and teaching them. He served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; the Elders quorum President, and in the Presidency for many years, Stake Mission President, Ward Missionary, and in the Bishopric. He loved our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and has honored them throughout his life. 

He would always remember people that he had met. Everywhere he would go he would know someone, and was also able to call them by name. 

He worked for Frank Edwards Company, Later called National Auto Parts Warehouse, He worked for them for 40 years. He held all positions available in the Warehouse. It was rare to see Mike without a ball cap on, especially at work. His General Manager summed up Mike’s character saying: He admired Mike’s integrity, honesty, the way he always treated people, and his love for others. 

We would like to give honor and recognition to his children and grandchildren for the time of service, love and devotion they have given to their parents. 

We would like to thank everyone from the Hunter 20th ward for their great Concern, Love and Prayers.

We also would like to thank the Active Hospice group in all they have done for Mike and his family. 

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah , with a visitation prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 am. An evening visitation will also be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 6:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you bring a balloon instead of flowers in Michaels honor, or perform an act of kindness for someone.
