Merlin Arkin Barela

Merlin Arkin Barela passed away at the age of 76 on April 15, 2022, in West Jordan, Utah. On May 12, 1945, he was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Merlin Trujillo Barela and Angela Molina Torres. He married Sandra Lee Park on March 15, 1969, and later divorced.
Merlin loved the mountains, food, hunting and fishing, and his family. He was the President of the Lions Club International (local chapter). He was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was baptized on August 24, 2013.
He is survived by his sisters, Mae Barela and Kay (Doug) Barela, children Eric (Dawn) Barela, Darlene Hunt, Paul (Ramona) Barela, and son-in-law Nick Ibarra.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Angela Barela, his siblings, Carol, Marsha, Jenny, Lois, and David, and his two daughters Alicia Barela and Marlene Ibarra.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 3 – 4 PM, and a viewing prior from 1-3 PM at the Church located at 12737 South 6000 West Herriman, Utah 84096.
