Merlene Saunders

“Be Kind”
Born March 27, 1936 in Idaho to Merle Willis and Cleo Adams and passed away February 22, 2019, with her family & faithful companion, her dog Sophie by her side. She married her High School sweetheart Charles Francis Saunders on August 16, 1952, later sealed in the Draper Temple. They raised six children and her family was always first in her life. She loved family gatherings, cooking, shopping and Christmas was her favorite, she always made Christmas special by her many craft projects, she would refer to her crafting as The Busy Bee Company. After retiring from Little America as a Banquet manager, mom and dad spent summers at Samak, where they loved the peace of the mountains and shared many friendships. Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, she loved going to the temple and serving in the Church. She is survived by her children Pam (Craig) Rodgers, Tracy (Steve) Karren, Dana Dredge & Bryan Saunders, sisters Karen Bogestad, Diane Panek, brother-in-law Clark (Sondra) Saunders and many grandchildren & great grandchildren. Preceded in death by both parents, husband, daughter (Kelly Byrd), son (Scott Saunders), and granddaughter Amy Byrd. The family would like to give special thanks to those who cared & loved our mom at Cedarwood Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Cerebral Palsy in honor of mom’s great-granddaughter Halle. Funeral Services will be held on March 1st at 11:00, at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. A viewing will be held two hours prior.
