Melvin Robert “Bob” Young
September 29, 1937 – December 4, 2015
Melvin Robert “Bob” Young, age 78, passed away December 4, 2015 after complications with pneumonia. Melvin was born September 29, 1937 in Salt Lake City, to Marvin and Bernice Young. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Kathleen R. Jenson. They were married for 47 years and together they had three children Kelly, Rick, and Paula.
Bob attended South High exceling in the sport of Baseball. He also loved playing golf, but where you would find him at his happiest was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Later in life he was blessed with two loyal companions Cassidy and MoJo.
Bob is survived by his three children Kelly (Lisa) Young, Rick (Debbie) Young, and Paula Madsen. His nine grandchildren and three great-grandsons. He is also survived by his brothers; Jerry (Gayle) Young, Lynn (Teresa) Young, sisters; Vickie (Mike) Allen, Debbie (Mike) Babb. Bob never thought he could be happy again after losing his wife Kathleen in 2007 but he found happiness with Kathy Chai and spent many wonderful years together, until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, his parents, and also his granddaughter Ashley Young.
Funeral Services with be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights. There will be a viewing held prior to the service from 11:00-11:45 am. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountainviewmortuary.com
