Melvin Ingersoll

December 18, 1932 — October 28, 2018

Melvin Earl “Mel” Ingersoll
1932 ~ 2018
On October 28, 2018 at 4:22 am a sweet and gentle man went quietly into his good night. Melvin Ingersoll, father, husband, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born December 18, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles and Caroline Ingersoll.
He married the love of his life Beverly (Price) Ingersoll, on June 18, 1953 and later were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, they were married for 65 years. Mel was a great, loving husband and father. As a youth he participated in the state junior bicycle race for 4 years and won all 4. He also had the opportunity to try out for the Olympics but never pursued it.  Mel opened his doors as a general and demolition contractor with a strong masonry back ground in September 1958 and worked very hard  every day to provide a good living for his family. Mel worked all over the Salt Lake Valley building commercial buildings and homes as a general contractor and mason. He always said the demo part of his job was his favorite because he never had to warranty his work. Mel and Beverly loved to travel and spend much time on cruise ships seeing many different countries and also traveled across the United States. On some of the trips, the family would come along and enjoy the sites and stories Mel would tell.
Preceded in death by his mother Caroline (Jensen) Ingersoll, father Charles Ingersoll, brothers Glenn, Charles “Chic”, Lee (Evelyn), Kenneth “Bud” (Darlene), sisters Betty Boswell, Elaine Buell, (Carl Buell) Brother in law Lesley Rowley. Survived by his loving wife, children Kevin (Sheri Clark), Tammy, Sherie (Alfred Quist), and Becky, grandchildren Melissa (Oscar Sr.), Brandon (Wendy), Ryan, Jenny (Kyle), Jeff (Brittany), Katie, Shawna, Dustin and Sarah (John); great grandchildren Cassie (Alex), Olivia (Nico), Oscar, Elaina, Alyssa, Allicen, Braxton, Jaxon, Owen, Marshall, Hailee, Aliyah;  great-great grandchildren Mia, Evalee, Acien and Shawn, and many nieces and nephews;  brother Dan (Peggy), sister Carol Rowley, and Shirley (Dave) Misner.
