Melvin Demar Tanner

Melvin DeMar Tanner, age 88, died on November 29, 2017 at home in West Valley City, Utah. He was born on May 30, 1929 in Tooele, Utah to John Melvin Tanner and Erma Mary Snowball.
He married Mona Lee Morley on June 8, 1949. Later married Thelma Merlene Christensen on April 15, 1983 (deceased).
DeMar was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He graduated from East High School in 1947. He attended the University of Utah for two years where he enrolled in art classes and learned oil painting among other things. He was an avid sports fan and followed the Utes for many years.
DeMar held a job as a salesman for many years at Midwest Office Supply selling office furniture and supplies. He had many lifelong friends from his job.
DeMar loved to take his family camping, fishing and skiing. He enjoyed hunting, especially pheasant and deer hunting. He also played golf and tennis for many years with family and friends. In his later years, he built a cabin at Uintah Lands. He loved spending time with his wife and family at the cabin and spent many years finishing the inside of the cabin. He made friends easily and was quickly a favorite of those who he came into contact with. He always had a joke to tell.
He is survived by children Randy Tanner (Jan), Kay Tilleman (John), Liz Ayers, and Thomas Tanner and 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, stepchildren Robin, Kathy, Sandra, Mindy. Preceded in death by wife (Merlene), brother, parents, and stepdaughters (Wendie, Kristy).
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary at 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.Service Information
