Daughter, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and to many - friend.
Melissa Ann Longton, 67, graduated from her earthly home Saturday, May 11th in the early morning hours. She fought a brief battle with stomach cancer.
Lissa was born April 2nd, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Carol and Melvin Taylor. She was raised in the Murray/Holladay area in a home on Brookwood Circle. As a child, she was beautiful, bright, and determined.
She attended Hill View Elementary, Bonneville Jr. High, and Cottonwood High School. Often noted to be a person who was genuine, with no pretenses or apologies. Lissa made friends quickly in each environment life placed her in. She seemed to understand and relate to people with no judgment.
Lissa was an avid reader and baker; you would often find her cozied up on the couch reading a good book or in the kitchen making treats. Her grandchildren often recollect Lissa’s lemon bars, a staple in her home. Other hobbies included music, dancing, crafting, and spending time with her family. A fact not many knew, Lissa had a passion for playing the drums.
Lissa is survived by her three sons Jason (Michelle), Brandon, and Trent (Shannon); seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and her sisters Teri, Becky, Wendy, Jill, and Amber. As well as many, many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carol and Melvin Taylor, husbands Corey and Richard, and son Jeremy.
Lissa will especially be remembered for her fiery determination and kind spirit. She was a gentle and generous soul; she will be missed.
