Melba Sears

Melba Stahle Sears age 92, passed away on June 2, 2015, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on January 15, 1923 in Parley’s Park, Utah to George Jacob Stahle and Bertha Hollenweger. Melba married William E. Sears on March 24, 1951. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Melba grew up in Parley’s Park, attended school in Park City and was a member of the Park City High School baton twirling Majorettes. She graduated from BYU in elementary education and taught in Tooele and Granite School Districts for 42 years.
Melba was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings over the years. Her calling in compassionate service was a highlight of her life. Proud of her pioneer heritage, Melba participated in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 20 years.
Melba loved crocheting, cooking, and gardening. Her children and grandchildren especially enjoyed her homemade hot chili salsa and everyone enjoyed her homemade caramels at Christmas time.
Melba is survived by her sister, Mildred Asay; two children, Dennis (Eileen) Sears and Susan (Daniel) Dyer; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Sears, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 1:00 PM at the Springview LDS chapel, 3153 S. 900 E. Viewings will be held on Friday June 5 from 6-8 PM at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E., Murray, Utah and 1 hour prior to the services at the Springview LDS chapel.
Interment will be at Memorial Estates Mountain View, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Please share a memory of Melba at www.mountainviewmortuary.com.
