Melba Foote Morris

Melba Foote Morris passed away surrounded by loved ones at her home in West Jordan, Utah on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at age 80.
Melba was born on April 14, 1938 in Gunnison, Utah and was the 8th of 9 children in her family.
She married her childhood sweetheart Dick Morris on February 6th, 1954. This year they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Amanda Bowden Foote, son Steve Morris, mother and father-in-law Mickey and Al Stevens, siblings Arnold Foote, Odell Foote, Devon Foote, Lois Andrew, Maurine Dupaix and Iown Jensen, and great granddaughter Taylor Nicole King.
She is survived by her husband, Dick, and children- Toni Morris (Connie), Rick Morris, and Cheri King (Doug); her grandchildren- Amber Swanigan, Alex Short (Staci), Nick Short (Chelsey), and Kelle Herrera (Billy), Stacie Poulson (Steve), Eric King (Nicki), Kristi Barnes (Steve), and Kyle King (Courtney); 28 great grandchildren; her brothers Lloyd Foote and Neldon Foote; sister-in-law Karen Walston (Rick); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. On January 4th this year, she welcomed her first great-great granddaughter.
Melba was tiny in stature but mighty in spirit! She amazed us all with her strength to persevere through many life and health challenges. She was known for her gentle and loving spirit- often even strangers could feel this from her. She loved people and loved preparing meals for family and friends!
Melba had many talents- in addition to being a great cook, she could sew, do crafts, and create beautiful floral arrangements. Everything she created was made more special with the amount of love she put into them.
We are grateful to have experienced your sweet spirit and will miss you dearly!
Viewing will be held at Memorial Estates, 6500 Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah on Friday evening, January 25th, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Services will be held at the West Jordan Utah River First Ward, located at 7150 South Callie Drive, West Jordan, Utah, on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 at 12:00 PM with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Lake Hills Cemetery located at 10055 So. State Street, Sandy, Utah.
A special thank you to the caregivers who so compassionately cared for Melba for the last few months- Danville Support Services and CNS Hospice Care, and in particular Helen Van who cared not only for Melba but looked out for Dick as well.
