Maymie Marie Hansen-Kanon

April 28, 1931 — April 25, 2022

Maymie Marie Hansen-Kanon passed peacefully in her home on April 25th, 2022 surrounded with love.
Maymie was born April 28th, of 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to her parents Albert S. Hansen and Edna May Hendstrom-Hansen. She married the love of her life Ralph Kanon, on July 27th, 1956.
Maymie served an LDS mission in Stockholm, Sweden in 1951-1953. She loved camping, sewing, singing, and crafting. You could often find her gardening, and enjoying the hummingbirds. She adored spending time with her family, and watching her grandchildren grow. Maymie especially loved holding hands with her sweetheart, whether you found them on the porch, or in their recliners. Maymie was a big-hearted soul, who always had sweet words to share with anyone and everyone.
Our sweet Maymie is survived by her 5 children: Ralph (Deniece), John (Diane), Mary, David, and Steven, her 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild due in October. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph, her parents, Albert and Edna, her brothers, Donald and Albert Hansen, her sisters, Joyce Cooley, and Lois Gordon, and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
The funeral services, to celebrate and commemorate Maymie’s beautiful life, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3305 Scottsdale Drive, West Valley, Utah. A viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road on Friday, April 29 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Graveside services, where she will be laid to rest with her sweetheart ,will be held at Redwood Memorial Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.
The family would also like to send our thanks to CNS Nursing, especially Maymie’s nurse DeeDee, for the tender care of our mother and grandma.
