Max Shelby Lowe, 81, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 in West Jordan, UT. He was born on July 31, 1935 to Shelby and Katherine Lowe. Attended and graduated from East High School in 1953 and served an LDS mission in Argentina. Married Laura Michaelis in 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. He obtained his Doctorate degree in Education Administration from Brigham Young University. Began his career as a teacher and advanced into administration at Salt Lake Community College. Then worked with the Utah Board of Regents and Dixie Applied Technology Center. Max served 24 years in the Utah National Guard and Reserves and retired as a Colonel.
Max loved teaching and interacting with students in his career and church callings, had a great concern for others and enjoyed serving them. He loved gardening and took great pride in his roses. All who knew him will miss his quick wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by Laura (wife), siblings Kaylene (Bob), Scott (Kay), and children Sherri (Randy), Kathy (Jim), Laurie, Michael (Annette), Kristi (Dave), Todd (Shana), Derek (Erika), thirteen grandchildren Jared (Elizabeth), Kendra, J.C., Mason, Dillon, Kira, Carter, Everett, Chase, Ian, Braxton, Annika, and Christian. He is preceded in death by his brother Jim.

A viewing will be held on March 15, 2017 from 6 – 8 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. Funeral services will be held on March 16, 2017 at Westland 2nd Ward, 7171 South 2700 West, West Jordan, UT, at 11 AM with a viewing from 9:30 -10:30 AM.
