Maryln Rae Farnes Rose

February 18, 1936 — December 22, 2018

Maryln Rae Farnes Rose, born 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018 with her family by her side.
Maryln was born to Harold and Catherine Farnes on February 18, 1936 (deceased December 25, 1964), and her sister Cathy Larsen, and brother Roy (deceased June 7, 1997).
She married her sweetheart Dorvin D. Rose, and their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Don and Maryln celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 4th of this year. Maryln was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.
She served in the church in numerous callings, including as ward chorister for many years. Maryln had an angelic soprano voice that was enjoyed by all, she sang in many choirs and blessed all she knew with her talents.
Maryln was a very loving and compassionate person who had a motherly influence among her family and friends. Her life is celebrated and mourned by her husband and eight children (with their spouses); Kathy (Rick) Jenkins, Jane (Frank Christiansen), Dorvin Jr. (Amanda), Daniel (Sandra), Patricia, Robert (Lety), Sandi, and David. She took great joy in her posterity, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her family was her life.
Maryln attended West High School in SLC, Utah. She worked for Sears, and retired after 20+ years of employment.
Our hearts are deeply saddened at the loss of this beautiful daughter of God. We take solace knowing that she has been reunited with loved ones that have preceded her in death.
With sincere gratitude, the family expresses appreciation to all who loved, served, and cared for Maryln.
Maryln loved this poem, it is a
fitting description of her life:
“THE ROSE STILL GROWS BEYOND THE
WALL
Near shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God’s free
light,
Watered and fed by morning dew,
Shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and
tall,
slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Thru which there shone a beam of
light.
Onward it crept with added strength,
with never a thought of fear or
pride,
It followed the light thru the crevices
length
And unfolded itself on the other
side.
The light, the dew, the broadening
view
Were found the same as they were
before;
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing its fragrance more and
more.
Shall claim of death cause us to
grieve,
And make our courage faint or fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive;
The rose still grows beyond the
wall.
Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forever-more.
