Maryetta Brown Tsukamoto, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2014 in Yuma, Arizona, from complications due to heart failure.
Born February 4, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Archie Lee Brown and Mary Ethel Carlston, Maryetta graduated from West High School and the University of Utah. She married Masaya Tsukamoto on June 8, 1967 in Salt Lake City.
Maryetta was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. She loved music and took great pleasure in attending Utah Symphony, Utah Opera, and Ballet West performances with her family and friends. She also sang with the Oratorio Society of Utah chorus for many years. After retiring from her work at the University of Utah in 2005, she found much joy in spending more time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 stepbrothers, and 3 stepsisters. Survivors include son Timothy Tsukamoto of Kuala Lampur, Malaysia; daughter April (Kevin) Young of Yuma, AZ; brother David Lee Brown of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, at 2:00 PM at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive, Holladay. Relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your favorite charity.
