Mary Elizabeth Veenstra

April 27, 1954 — August 29, 2024

Mary passed away, peacefully, on Aug 29, 2024, at the age of 70 years young and she was surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was the daughter of Joseph & Margret Conway. She was born in New York, New York on April 27, 1954. The Conway Family later moved to Utah.

When Mary started working at Sperry Univac after high school she met the love of her life, though she didn’t know it at the time. Bill and Mary were co-workers and close friends for ten years before they both realized they were more than just friends. They were married on July, 3 1981. They had 2 children, Ryan and Elizabeth. Mary retired from what later became L-3 Communication Systems West after 20 plus years of service.

Mary was always surrounded by family and/or friends as she grew up with 6 brothers and sisters. Mary was the rock that held her family together, as she continued to host family gatherings, especially during the holidays. Everyone was welcomed into her home with open arms.

Mary lived life to the fullest. She was an active bowler of 40 plus years & enjoyed camping, gardening, knitting, fishing & bird watching. She was also passionate about her family's annual trip to Lake Tahoe. We believe this is where her heart is, as she was dedicated to continuing this tradition that her parents started back in 1966.

Mary is survived by her husband Bill; son, Ryan (Lacy); daughter, Elizabeth (Dustin); sisters: Peggy, Joan, Patty (Joe); brothers, Paul (Robin) & John; youngest sister, Teresa. Preceded in death by her Father & Mother, Joseph & Margret Conway, and her Father-in-law & Mother-in-law Herman & Nantje Veenstra.

An informal graveside service to share memories of Mary will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Noon. Dress is casual. The service will be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, Cemetery and Pet Garden located at 3115 Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
