LuAnn Lamont left this world far too soon, passing away unexpectedly on June 18, 2024 at the age of 64. Her absence leaves all those who knew and loved her with a profound sense of sadness and loss.
LuAnn was born Mary LuAnn Scroggins on November 15, 1959 in Red Bank, New Jersey. She was raised by her parents Admiral Dewey and Clara Doris Scroggins in Salt Lake City, Utah. In her youth, she enjoyed camping trips with her family and learning to play the piano and sew.
As she grew older, LuAnn took an active interest in helping her mother run Parkview Nursery School, where she provided accounting services, staff management, and caring for the many children who spent their youth learning and growing at Parkview. LuAnn remembered fondly so many wonderful friends she was able to meet and work with at the daycare through the years.
LuAnn fell in love with and married Thomas (“Tom”) Lamont, and they raised four beautiful children together, first in Magna, Utah, and later moving to their family home in Taylorsville, Utah. LuAnn thrived in her role as a mother, raising her children with patience, care, support, and unconditional love. She and Tom made so many beautiful memories with their children, exploring and going on family vacations to California, South Dakota, and Hawaii, long drives in the mountains, fishing and camping trips, and so much more. As she raised her children, LuAnn always found a way to show each of them how special they were to her and how much she loved them. LuAnn and Tom divorced later in life, but they remained good friends always in their mutual support of their children and grandchildren.
LuAnn loved spending time with her family and friends boating at Willard Bay, bowling, poker games, and many crazy bunko nights. LuAnn’s inspiration for cleaning her house was Meatloaf’s acclaimed album Bat Out of Hell. Her children will always associate Meatloaf with household cleaning. LuAnn loved reading John Grisham novels and watching true crime TV shows. She was always in the mood for sushi, and with gentle encouragement, she was eventually able to convince her son Andrew to try it as well, which was a raging success. LuAnn also enjoyed countless hours-long phone calls with her best and lifelong friend Toni Lems, who she met when she was only six years old and made so many unforgettable memories with throughout her life.
LuAnn also loved her dogs and cats with all of her heart (especially her dogs). She developed a very close attachment with Bear, Tyson, Kadie, and the newest addition Kylo, they all felt her love every day. She was also a loving and dedicated surrogate dog-mother to her friends and children’s dogs when they would go out of town.
LuAnn is survived by her four children, Amanda Brennan, Andrea (Jason) Schow, Aleena Lamont (Chris Chow), Andrew Lamont, her five grandchildren Julia Lamont, Josie Lamont, Malik Schow, Brooks Chow, and Clara Schow, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents A. Dewey Scroggins and Clara D. Scroggins, and her sister Sharon Lee Allen.
