Mary (Grams) Velarde, 81, of West Valley City, Utah returned to her heavenly home early January 8, 2016 after a valiant battle with illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Mary was blessed with a large and loving family. Mary was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and friend. She was a dedicated individual who took pride in everything she did. She was a lover of all the small things in life. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. She loved Sunday dinners and all holidays spent with her family.
We knew that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home
You left us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

She is survived by Fred, Rick and Ginny Velarde, Raymond and Debbie Velarde, Mary Ray, Joey and Sandra Velarde, Ramiro and Teresa Izarraras, and Ben Velarde. She had 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by Alfred Velarde Sr. and her grandson Rico Velarde.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm in the evening at Redwood Memorial. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00am with a viewing one hour prior at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123. She will be laid to rest following the service.Service Information
