Mary Ellen Christopherson Gabrielson

Mary Ellen Christopherson Gabrielson, Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on May 14, 2016 at her home after a courageous, eight year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was born June 29, 1932 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Hyrum Reed Christopherson and Margaret Lawhorn.  Mary Ellen spent her early years in Spanish Fork. At 9 years old her family moved to Salt Lake City.  She completed her schooling at South High School.  In 1962 she was introduced to Gary Gabrielson by mutual friends.  They were married in the Manti LDS Temple on January 4, 1963.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She lovingly cared for her aging parents and her older twin brothers, Reed and Ray at the family home until their passing.  Mary Ellen served faithfully in many church callings, Primary President, twice as Relief Society President, many years teaching in Jr. Sunday School and Primary.  She and Gary served together as Temple ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple.  She also supported Gary in all of his callings.  She is survived by her husband, Gary; son Stephan (Fayone Curtis); grandson Cameron, of West Valley; daughter Stacey and granddaughter Abbey of Salt Lake City.  Services will be at 12 Noon Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Mckinley Ward, 1883 South West Temple Street.  Friends and family may call Wednesday, 6 to 8 PM at the Mckinley Ward and 10:45 to 11:45 AM at the church.  Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
