Mary Cielos Maestas Sanchez
July 23, 1928 — June 29, 2019
Mary Cielos (Maestas) Sanchez, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29, 2019. Born on July 23, 1928 in Mora, New Mexico to Amalia Maestas. She married her best friend and love Jose Abenicio Sanchez in Taos, New Mexico on August 18, 1948.
Mary was a loving and devoted mother to her four children; Albert Sanchez, Frederick Sanchez, Veronica Montez, and Joseph Sanchez. Mary also loved and adored each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Tobbie Sanchez, Lucas Sanchez, Summer Christiansen, and Autumn Marshall; great grandchildren; Zerek Sanchez, Aiden Marshall, & Mason and Max Sanchez. Mary leaves a multitude of family and friends that simply adored her for her genuine kindness and strength, as she was a perfect example of a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandma, and daughter. Mary ultimately enjoyed spending her time with her husband and partner, Joe. They have so many memories over the 71 years together of traveling, dancing when they were young, competing on bowling leagues, and simply working together each and every day. Mary enjoyed tending her flowers (especially her roses), camping with family, cleaning, and taking her infamous trips to Wendover. One thing known by many was she was and is now an angel; who always took care of others before her own self. Our mother and grandma will be remembered each and every day with the utmost love, poise, and elegance that she continually demonstrated for us all. We love you Abuela.
We will miss you every day and you are one of the best women we will ever know!!
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019, 9:00 AM, with a viewing beginning at 8:00 AM at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Interment to follow Funeral Mass at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. There will be a luncheon provided after the burial at 48625 South 1130 West, Taylorsville, UT 84123.Service Information
