Mary Carolyn Reesor

September 24, 1936 — February 18, 2018

(Mary) Carolyn Earl Reesor left this world behind on Sunday, February 18, 2018, following complications related to a fall at home. Our sorrow at her departure faded into joy as we contemplated the great reunion that awaited her on the other side. We are comforted in the knowledge that she and her husband of 57 years, Courtney Calvin Reesor, who preceded her in death in 2010, are once again together, never to be separated.
Carolyn was born on September 24, 1936, to Vernon Dewey Earl and Mary Zelda Johansen in Salt Lake City. She married Court on January 9, 1953, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1970. Together they had three children—Craig, Pamela and Joy—seven grandchildren and, at the time of her passing, ten great-grandchildren.
Carolyn held many endearing titles in her life: daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She endeavored to fill each role with love and joy and brought much happiness into the lives of those who knew her. She had a beautiful singing voice and took lessons in her youth. She enjoyed being crafty and was talented in the arts of cake decorating, crocheting and knitting. As a young mother and homemaker, she skillfully made clothing for her family. Carolyn was a loving and compassionate woman who gave of herself to the delight of her family and community. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over the years. Cheerful and friendly, she excelled at sales and was an Avon rep for two decades. She loved animals. She and Court raised poodles for many years and kept quite a few of them. Her last companion, Gabby, a Chihuahua, is lost without her. Most of all, she loved spending time with her lifelong sweetheart. She and Court spent many a trip fishing, hunting, or exploring together, and when age confined them to their home, they enjoyed each other’s company no less.
Carolyn is survived by her younger sisters Nancy (Bud) Zirker and Linda Killpack, children Craig (Mary) Reesor and Pam (Edward) Sosa, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia (George) Forakis, brother David Earl, daughter Joy (Brent) Allen, and daughter-in-law Susan Allred Reesor.
