Mary Ann Makaimoku (63) returned to her Father in heaven on October 9, 2024, in South Jordan, Utah. Mary Ann was born on August 27, 1961, in New Orleans, LA to Mary Bowling and Robert Newman. She was the oldest of four children: Tammy, Robert, and Steven.
Mary Ann graduated from Mandeville High School in Louisiana and then attended Ricks College, Ensign College, and the University of Phoenix. She received her bachelor’s in accounting and a master’s in business.
She leaves behind her siblings, sister-in-law, Nahe Foley (Jared), three children, Jamie Ruiz (Alex), Keawe (Bailey), and Andrew. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Jade, Braedon, Christos, Victoria, Auden, Soren, and Lottie.
Mary Ann had a passion and talent for music. She played the flute and participated in many choirs across the Salt Lake Valley. Her hobbies included anything with crafts, and she loved to share this pastime with her family and friends.
To her children, she taught them the meaning of hard work and sacrifice. She was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered countless hours of service in callings and serving in the temple.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 8150 South Grizzly Way, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same location on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday one hour prior to services from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. Burial services will proceed after the funeral services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
