Marvin Mears, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away on August 15, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 14, 1935 to Harry Edward Mears and Vera Irene Jamison, both deceased. Marvin married Jeri L. Stewart in 1952. She preceded him in death in 1986. Marvin was also preceded in death by son Ron, grandson Talon and Brother Jack. They had five children: Rick (Robyn), Randy (Nita), Cheryll (Ken) Adamson, Rory (Cori) Mears and sister Lorene Olsen.
In 1987, Marvin married Quata M. (Baird) Gaydon, who stayed by his side until his last breath. Along with Quata came six stepchildren who cherished him immeasurably: Steven (Sandy) Gaydon, Marlene (Wayne) Chandler, Colette Guffy, LeAnn Jones, Tonya Anderson, and Carolyn (Gregg) Rosann. Marvin was a man who was fiercely loyal to his family and always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling and working in his yard. Most of all, Marvin loved being at home with his sweetheart, Quata, and his beloved dog, Charlie.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 1:30 (Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery) with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
