Marvin Maurice Emerson Davis, Jr.

Marvin Maurice Emerson Davis Jr. (aka “Mark”) quietly passed away December 10, 2019 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born on April 28, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa to Marvin Maurice Emerson Davis Sr. and Myda Frances Stodder, oldest of six children. Marvin joined the United States Navy in 1952, serving during the Korean War on the USS Chandler stationed in Guam, and received the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, The China Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He loved the time he spent on Guam, loved the sky and the ocean. While there he was first introduced to the Book of Mormon and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He would later serve in the Jordan River Temple. He married Joyce Ellen Hatton in the Los Angeles Temple on June 19, 1964. He loved crossword puzzles and cowboy novels. He loved opera and folk music. He developed a keen interest in archeology and anthropology and enjoyed taking road trips in the Southwestern U.S.A. He loved driving buses for Greyline, Le Bus, and especially for the Granite School District. He loved the kids and they loved him. He also had a dry sense of humor that always had the nurses laughing. He was a funny guy! Marvin is survived by his wife: Joyce Ellen; and his sons Linn Dion (Joanna), Lee Jared (Yoshimi), Christopher Brys (Amy) Jeremy Stuart, and Marc Ariel (Grace) as well as 8 fantastic grandchildren. The Davis family is grateful to the wonderful staff at Sunridge Assisted Living for their kind and compassionate care.
There will be a family viewing this Tuesday December 17th at 10 A.M. with a graveside service burial at 11 A.M. at Memorial Lake View Mortuary & Cemetery 1640 East Lakeview Drive Bountiful, UT 84010
