Marvin Donald Wassmer

May 30, 1938 — December 12, 2020

Marvin Donald Wassmer, born May 30, 1938, passed peacefully from this life on December 12th, 2020 in the loving company and care of his wife. The joyful reunion he experienced afterwards with his sweet parents and younger brother was something with which he had long anticipated with great love and excitement.
Marvin will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Marvin met the love of his life, Elaine, at a church dance where he fell head over heels in love with her. They were later married on September 6, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. You could spot them dancing together throughout life on any dance floor. Together, they had two children, Suzanne and Jeffrey. Marvin loved his family and enjoyed supporting them at their activities and events.
Marvin had a great love for music, as it filled his soul with joy and peace. Although a quiet man, music was the language of his soul. You could always find him tapping his fingers or feet to an unheard beat. Joy could be found on his face anytime that you found him at the piano or while he was listening to his favorite tunes.
Marvin proudly served his country in the Utah National Guard from 1956 to 1962, during which time he played the French horn. He also worked at the Union Pacific Railroad for the majority of his career. Additionally, Marvin was an avid scouter with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed many years serving at the unit, district and council levels. He was awarded scouting’s Silver Beaver award recognizing his many years of volunteer service. He celebrated life by enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.
Marvin is survived by his beautiful wife, Elaine Wassmer; daughter, Suzanne Unsworth (DJ); son, Jeffrey Wassmer (Tori); brother, Gary Wassmer (June); 6 grandchildren, their spouses, and 10 great grandchildren. He is loved beyond words and the memories of times shared with him will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
An intimate private service for family will be held in Salt Lake City Utah prior to interment.
