Martin Delbert Wood, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on May 24, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on March 4, 1950, in Utah to proud parents Delbert W Wood and Zola Wood, Martin's journey through life was marked by compassion, resilience, and boundless generosity.
Martin's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to helping others. He was a pioneer in assisting individuals with disabilities, fearlessly embracing new equipment and technologies to enhance their mobility and quality of life. As part of the first group to trial innovative devices for individuals with spinal cord injuries and missing limbs, Martin's courageous spirit inspired countless others. His enthusiasm for activities like Sit Skiing, Scuba Diving, and White Water Rafting wasn't merely about personal enjoyment; it was about breaking barriers and empowering those around him to embrace life's adventures.
Beyond his passion for adventure, Martin found joy in simple pleasures like playing Billiards, competing in Wheelchair Basketball and Tennis, and spending tranquil moments fishing or horseback riding. His zest for life was infectious, and he cherished every opportunity to share these experiences with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Martin's memory will forever be cherished by his loving daughter Michelle Thomas, his son Cody M Wood, his devoted sisters Carma Crowther and Carolyn Beebe, as well as his six grandchildren (Katlyn Thomas, Sharnell Thomas, Dalton Wood, Syrina Wood, Holly Wood, and Jayden Hankins) and two great-grandchildren (Anthony Moreno and Adrian Sanchez). He is preceded in death by his dear parents Delbert W Wood and Zola Wood.
As we mourn Martin's passing, let us also celebrate the profound impact he made on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of kindness, courage, and boundless love will continue to inspire generations to come.
The service for Martin D Wood will be held on Friday June 14, 2024 @ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at
601 E Mansfield Ave From : 4-7:30PM.
