Our Father (Daddy) passed away at 5:25 pm while the pioneer celebrations were continuing on July 24th. He slipped peacefully away in his home with his granddaughter, Melissa holding his hand. He was born on February 24 in Richfield, Utah and was not expected to live more than a few days. His parents, Lewis and Adelle, chose his full name quickly, “Mark” came from his Aunt Martha and “Alexander” from his Uncle Alex, both wonderful examples in his family. He was very proud that he beat those earlier odds and lived happily until the age of 90.
He married the love of his life, Myrna Loy Bay on September 18, 1950 in the Manti Temple. Mark counseled his posterity to always remember that “family ties” are a most important goal. He was an avid photographer. He taught love of the outdoors and would enjoy family gatherings at his beautiful cabin. He loved the traditions that we built as a family and he’s continued writing about new memories consistently.
He was an incredible example of keeping and protecting the recorded histories for our family. It will be precious to share those memories with his future posterity. Generations past, present, and future are forever indebted to him and the amazing work he did on this Earth to link our family together for eternity. We know he will continue his work in Heaven as he shares his light and the knowledge of the truth that he knew through his written and spoken words. He will forever be a part of every life he touched on this earth.
He has always been a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and willing to share his love of the gospel by his many examples. He bore witness of his beliefs frequently with his family and friends. He was a spiritual giant. Our father served an LDS Mission in Sweden, as did his father. He also served in the Bishopric three times, High Priest Group Leader several times but his favorite calling was teaching the Gospel Principles Class. Mark kept and organized many lesson books from the Ensign or other pertinent gospel teachings. He enjoyed being a Stake Missionary with his wife Myrna. He also proudly served his country in Korea while in the Army and shared many songs, poetry and photos from that time in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life and soulmate Myrna Loy Bay, a son Bruce Alan, a great-grandson Kevin Robson, three sisters Donna, Laurel, Hazel and two brothers Melvin and Boyd and many other loved ones that passed before him. He is survived by his four daughters: Rosalie (Don), Deloris (Doug), Elaine (Max), Lori (Richard) and his two sons Terry (Cheri), and C.J. He also has 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Our family has been honored with his love. We love him and will miss him dearly.
