Our witty, generous, and all-around amazing father, Mark Dean Jeffries, passed away on January 16, 2017 in West Jordan, UT. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Ruth Madeline and Larry Robert Jeffries on February 28, 1950. He grew up in Chesterfield, UT and graduated from Granite High School in 1968. He attended Southern Utah State College, and after a period of time determined his love for building things was going to be his profession. Dad spent 50 years in the construction industry, retiring 2 years ago as a Master Drywaller. His work lives on all around us.
He loved hunting, fishing, and cooking. His made-from-scratch bread was always the center piece of Thanksgiving. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, and talking to his family. He loved rock and roll music, especially classic rock. Dad was an extremely honest, loyal man who gave many all he had, and then some. There wasn’t a year that went by, even during the lean years that he didn’t find a way to give to others in need. Dad’s word was his commitment. He taught us how to work hard, how to sacrifice, and how to love. His dry, clever, and quick-witted sense of humor was second to none, and matched by few. Dad had a soft-heart that was simply too big to stay in this world. In his words, “My love will always be with you, family is forever, we are forever.”
Dad, we will never be able to repay you for all you’ve done on our behalf. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you. We are so proud to be your children, and we won’t let you down. Every day that passes without you here is one day closer to being with you again. “We’ll see you when we see you.” Love, It Wasn’t Me & I Didn’t Do It.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Larry & Ruth Jeffries, sister & brother-in-law Beverly & Frosty Froisland, brother-in-law Don Marcek, and nephews Bret & Jeff Froisland. He is survived by his two children Ashley (Brad) Shreeve, TyRell (Chelsea) Jeffries, sister Carolyn Marcek, brother Butch (Jackie) Jeffries, many nieces & nephews, and 3 of the best friends anyone could ask for: Max Sandoval, Pat Laveder & Julio Gutierrez.
