Mark Anderson, born November 18, 1949, passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 8, 2017. After what has been a cold, harsh winter, it proved to be a warm, beautiful, sunny day, and he was surrounded by those closest to him.
Selfless, and with a remarkable work ethic, Mark devoted himself to others. He was an inspiring leader, volunteer, and teacher, as well as a true and dedicated friend. Filled with an explorer’s curiosity, he loved the outdoors and pursued adventure without hesitation or fear. Mark’s humor was good-natured and infectious, with tongue planted firmly in cheek. He cultivated a strong faith, and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was wonderfully uninhibited in his emotions and unfailingly kind, making him not only an exemplary man, but a truly devoted husband, an amazing father, and an exceptional Papa. His legacy is one of love—an implicit understanding that “in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make.”
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie, and his two sons, Justin (Alison) and Jeremy (Annie), as well as his four grandchildren, Ian, Isaac, Gabriel, and Kathleen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13 at 11:30 A.M. (viewing to begin at 10:00 A.M.) at the Butler Hill Chapel, 2695 East 7000 South.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mark’s honor to his preferred charity, Utah Youth Village, 5800 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84121 (www.youthvillage.org).Service Information
