Marjorie West Hazelgren

October 16, 1934 — July 5, 2022

Marjorie West Hazelgren passed away on July 5, 2022 at her home in Murray, Utah. She was born on October 16, 1934 in Salt Lake City to parents James HC West and Flora Lewis.
Marge was always up for a party with family or friends. She brought joy to everyone around her. She graduated from Granite High School. This was the place where she and her friends would begin a club that would last for the next 70 years! The club met once a month for “therapy“ and to just have fun. High school was also where she met the love of her life, Jay Hazelgren. They were married and shared the next 68 years together. She was married one week, before they moved to San Diego for Jay to serve in the Navy. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Her family, friends, and neighbors were her life. Her house was always ready for Saint Patrick’s Day and every other holiday. In between the holidays she held tea parties for both her granddaughters and young ladies in her ward. She was an avid attender of the BYU football games, and basketball games for many years and took many of her grandchildren to games with her. She was always there for someone in need. She always had a kind word of acceptance and love for all. You were always welcome in her home and she listened and loved many around her kitchen table.
She had a distinct love for crafting and did very well at it. She was one of the first clients in the Quilted Bear. Her products were also listed in Mormon handicraft. She loved to create! She instilled that love of crafting and creating in many of her descendants.
Marge and Jay served a mission as LDS service missionaries at IHC hospital in Murray for seven years. They had many spiritual experiences during these wonderful years of service.
She is survived by her children, Sherie (Steve) Christensen, Linda (Fred) Burtoft, and Brian (Ann) Hazelgren. She was survived by her 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and her brother Robert West. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay, her brother Jim West, and by both of her parents.
