Marjorie Sowby passed away on Christmas Day 2017 in Murray, Utah, returning to her parents she loved so dearly. Marge was born August 20, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to A. Ernest and Dora Marie Webb Sowby. She lived her first 10 years in the town of Garfield, Utah where she enjoyed a carefree childhood with many friends. The family moved to Salt Lake in 1945. She graduated from South High School in 1952 (the best school in the state) later the University of Utah. She worked in the Granite School District for 27 years, most of which was spent as Secretary in the Transportation Dept. She worked with many good people.
Marge loved animals and over the years gave a good home to a dog and a number of cats who she hopes to meet again on the Rainbow Bridge. She loved all of God’s creatures, except flies and mosquitos. She claimed they could pick her out of a crowd.
Marge dearly loved children, enjoyed reading, traveling with friends, counted cross stitch and making hamburger soup. She had a sense of humor and enjoyed bringing laughter into the lives of others. She found pleasure in things around her, a beautiful sunrise or sunset, shadows on the Wasatch Mountains; early morning dew on roses.
Marjorie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in her callings as Sunday School Secretary, Primary secretary, a Primary counselor, and Relief Society secretary and a visiting teacher.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, all of her aunts and uncles and some of her cousins.
