Our dear sweet Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Marjorie Duffin Farmer (Marge), passed away peacefully at her Murray home on Friday, May 27th, surrounded by her loving sons and their wives.
Marge was born on June 12, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second child to Archie Duffin and Edna Pratt. She was raised in Salt Lake City graduating from South High School in 1942. She married the love of her life, William Franklin (Bill) Farmer on March 5, 1949, they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968. Together, they raised two sons, Darrell William and Brian David Farmer. Marge truly loved being a Mother and homemaker for her husband and sons, supporting them in all of their activities and callings.
Marge was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many teaching and leadership positions. She followed Christ by the way she lived her life and by the service she rendered to family and friends. She was proud of her pioneer ancestry on both sides of her family, but particularly of being the great granddaughter of the Apostle Parley P. Pratt.
Marge had a 40-year career as a secretary and office worker in several medical offices and the Western States Water Council. After retirement, she and Bill shared their testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. After her mission, Marge served for 16 years as a hostess and information desk clerk at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Church History Museum, Cottonwood Hospital and IMC. These were memorable years in her life where she developed lifelong friends.
Marge enjoyed travel and vacations with Bill and their extended families. (Just mention a trip and she would say “when do we leave”).
Marge was always eager to learn new things and accept new challenges. She was an avid reader and a member of many book and literary clubs for many years. Marge enjoyed the arts, particularly music. She played the piano and sang with choirs in the different locations where she lived.
Marge is survived by sons, Darrell (Joyce) and Brian (Melanie), eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Bill, Mother and Father, one sister Gloria and three brothers LeRoy, Dale and Edward.
