Marjorie Barentsen Koopman

Marjorie Barentsen Koopman, age 82, of Layton, passed away February 5, 2017. Marjorie was born February 9, 1934 in Fountain Green, Utah to Howard and Florence (Burdick) Barentsen. They later moved to Salt Lake City, where Marjorie attended South High School and the University of Utah. She married Walter Koopman on December 18, 1954, whom she later divorced. Together, they had two daughters, Teresa and Cynthia.
Marjorie worked for Job Service for many years, and retired as a Claims Adjudicator. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching the Food Network, spending time at her condo in Park City, painting porcelain dolls, going up to the canyons for breakfast on the weekends, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters Teresa Bristow of Nuevo, California, and Cynthia (Keith) Fullerton of Holladay, Utah; grandchildren, Amy (Bob) Bartley of Kaysville, Utah, Jennifer (Jeremy) Green of Holladay, Utah, Lance (Morgan) Bristow of Gadsden, Alabama, Ian (Yamel) Bristow of Nuevo, California, Heidi (Chad) Mucha of Sunset, Utah, Patrick (Sophie) Fullerton of Holladay, Utah, and Ashley Bristow of Nuevo, California; great-grandchildren Tré, Jordan, Madeline, Cordelia, Daniel, Chloe, Paige, Lilith, Ian Jr., Eli, Max, Jaxon and Rexley; and brother Howard (Jane) Barentsen of Ivins, Utah. Marjorie was preceded in death by her father Howard, mother Florence, sisters Judy Martin and Lois Dahle, and son-in-law Donald Bristow.
Graveside services will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful. A celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held that evening from 6-7:30 pm at Fairfield Village of Layton, 1205 North Fairfield Road, where light refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a favorite charity in Marjorie’s name.
