Marilyn Mangelson Peterson, age 78, passed away peacefully in Lehi, Utah on July 6th, 2024. She was born on October 31st, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Austin and Ruby Mangelson. She was the third of seven children, with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Marilyn married Stanley Camp Peterson Jr. on May 26th, 1967, and together they had five children.

Marilyn's life was a tapestry of passions and talents. She was a master seamstress and her beautiful works of art were a testament to her creativity and skill. She especially enjoyed spending her time sewing doll clothes, children’s clothes, and quilts. Gardening was another joyous pursuit for Marilyn, who nurtured lush gardens that bloomed with color and life. She had a love for baking and cooking and delighted in preparing meals that brought joy to her family and friends.

An enthusiast of the arts, Marilyn found joy in dancing, singing and piano playing. She was deeply involved in her community through her service. In high school she also found joy in participating in drama and pep clubs. Marilyn dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her five children, creating a loving and supportive home where her family thrived. Marilyn's adventurous spirit led her to travel the world creating cherished memories across the globe. She was a passionate collector of Brigham Young University memorabilia and an avid supporter of BYU sports, particularly football. Marilyn found solace in poetry, had a knack for typing, and found joy in the beauty of flowers and nature. Her generous spirit was evident in her dedication to serving others and in her love for crafting and organizing.

Marilyn’s beautiful family consists of: Brian (Lori), Ann (J.R.), Brad (Alysia), Rodney (Brandi), and Lindy (Jeremy). She was a cherished grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. Her contagious laugh, zest for life, joy, and fun personality will be cherished here and also carried on into the next life.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at Memorial Mountain View, 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121 on Monday, July 15th with a viewing from 9:30am-10:45am. Funeral at 11:00am.

Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
