Marilyn Esther Mandarino Owen left this world peacefully embraced by family on January 13, 2025.
Marilyn was born January 24, 1943, at home, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and Mary Mandarino. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. Marilyn raised her children in the Cottonwood Heights area, an incredibly close and loving mother to her children that continued into adulthood. She was always available and involved with her children and poured even more love into her grandchildren.
Marilyn worked for the State of Utah Lieutenant Governors office. She later moved into sales with Salt Lake Desk, Richins Office Supply, and MidWest Office Supply. Marilyn eventually started her own Manufacturers Rep business. With her artistic background, she excelled in commercial interior design and installation.
Marilyn was an avid tennis player and spent most of her adult life snow skiing and enjoying the outdoors. She was the ultimate host, enjoyed cake decorating, photography and was an excellent cook, teaching French cooking and entering cooking contests. With her love and background in art, she enjoyed creating art with her children and grandchildren.
Marilyn spent 20 years living in Las Vegas, playing tennis on multiple tennis teams. She enjoyed her life there, and the friendships she made.
In 2018 Marilyn moved back to Salt Lake City to be closer to family. In her new environment at Summit Vista she became involved in the community participating in the many activities offered. She made some of the most meaningful friendships of her entire life in this community. As she needed more help, she moved closer to family in Cottonwood Heights. Her children returned the love and care she so selflessly gave to them, in the care of her.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Escalante of Coventry for the kindness and loving care they gave to our mother.
