Marilyn was born in 1932 and passed away in 2020. She was loved much by her parents, Clifford and Rhea Lambourne Langton, and older sister, Evelyn. The family lived close to downtown Salt Lake City. Marilyn attended city schools, graduating from West High. Their home was a 42-unit apartment building. Most tenants were seniors, and the only child allowed was Marilyn, the manager’s daughter. Thus, began a lifelong purpose of Marilyn’s to care for the elderly.
Marilyn and Gib met on a blind date. On that date he invited her to his mission farewell to Denmark the next week. They corresponded for two and a half years. Shortly after his return they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1952. The were able to travel to many states and countries (living in Germany a year while Gib served his country.)
Six wonderful children, thirteen grand and ten great-grandchildren brought much love, joy and happiness into their lives.
Marilyn enjoyed serving in many church callings, close friends for lunch, shopping, and their cabin in Midway. Their two homes in Cottonwood Heights were always filled with love, joy, and music. Their “home with a view” brought much peace and contentment.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gib; and five sons: Cliff (Deborah), Rick (Kari), Cory (Lynne), Ron, Mark (Deanna). She is preceded in death by daughter, Wendi Bridge (Rob), and sister, Evelyn Johnston. She loved them all.
At Marilyn’s request, there will be a family graveside service and burial at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, funeral services are by invitation only.Service Information
