Marilyn Joyce Owens

Our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully in the arms of her heavenly Father surrounded by her family on February 17, 2019. She was born on December 17, 1930, to Gladys and Joseph Tavey.
Marilyn was a devout member of the LDS church. She servced her community in scouting program as Den Mother for more than 20 years helping shape the future of countless young boys and men. Mom was a very talented seamstress, designing dance costumes for many dance studios in Utah, including the Utah Jazz dancers and the Crimson Line of the U of U. She also designed and made custom wedding cakes. She loved to paint in oils, usually landscapes and flowers. Her home was the gathering place for friends and family, having pool parties and BBQ’s. The kids in the neighborhood called her mom.
Special thanks to her caregiver Ofa Pakofe and family for the loving way she cared for our mom.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband William, son Robert, grandsons Zakkary and Dominic, and brother Joe.
She is survived by her children Kent (Lora), Mike (Carmen), Rick (Jamie), and Cori (Mark); sister Julie (Jim) Mulford; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; and her friend and companion dog Meiko.
