Marilyn Claire Granger Marley

July 30, 1933 — March 18, 2021

Marilyn, our beautiful and precious mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, at the age of 88.
Marilyn Claire Granger was born the morning of July 30, 1933 in Spanish Fork, Utah to loving parents, Ruth Dedrickson Granger and Archille Granger. She is survived by two brothers, Archille Gordon (JoAnn) and Theodore (Ted) Edward (Millie). She married Lavell Monroe Marley on September 24, 1954 (divorced, deceased), with whom she had 3 beautiful children; Michelle, Lisa Dawn and Kenneth Lavell. She is survived by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren (Jeffrey, Randy, Jennifer, Michael, Joshua, Brittany, Jessica, Alexandria), and 7 great grandchildren (Katelynn, Seth, Carter, Shailey, Jada, Lucian, Jaxen), who she deeply adored, 7 nephews who she loved dearly, and many close friends for whom she also cared deeply.
Marilyn worked at Hill AFB as a clerk typist in the 1950’s, also appearing in the Hill Top Times newspaper in a Thanksgiving edition, and numerous times as beauty queen. In her late teens and early twenties, she was a model for the John Robert Powers Modeling Agency. These beautiful photographs will keep her in our memories forever.
She graduated from Utah Technical College, receiving her degree in office administration. She attended the University of Utah and worked as an administrative assistant in the Department of Medical Education.
She began her tenure at the VA Medical Center, as an event planner and logistics coordinator for the regional medical education center. During her time at the VA, she graduated from George Washington University in Event Management. She traveled nationally, managing educational conferences for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Highly skilled and precise with negotiations and having an unparalleled talent with public relations and communication, she was widely respected and received numerous awards and accolades for her many contributions. She served in this role for over 35 years, and was still in contact with her colleagues from her time there.
Marilyn was intelligent, articulate, discerning and artistic. Her talents are noted in her sketches, her vocal talent, and appreciation for the finer things in life. She had an eye for style and design, and was an aficionado of high-quality items from clothing to furniture. She encouraged us to shoot for moon, but make sure we got it for a good price. Her wit and sense of humor was one of her enduring qualities, and endeared her to us all.
We acknowledge, with great appreciation, Kenneth, for his dedication and excellence in taking care of mom. Her medical needs were complicated, and he cared for her with the skill of a practitioner.
