Marie Eichers Otteson was a woman of exceptional character and unwavering faith and loyalty, passed away on the 11th of February 2024 in Grand Junction, Mesa, Colorado. Marie's memory will forever be cherished by her loving family and countless individuals whose lives she touched over the course of her remarkable life and journey.
Born 15 November 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Nicholas Eichers and Maude Mabel Kate Sly. Marie was the youngest of five siblings. At an early age, Marie started off her love for dance and music. First by learning tap dancing where her mom would make all of her costumes. Later, it was her love for music and singing in high school. That started down the path of what would turn out to be her lifelong passion.
Marie later would meet Joseph Orin Otteson. They married on the 23rd of April 1950 in Elko, Nevada and later were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were proud parents of three children: Karen Marie Otteson Grenz, Kevin J Otteson and Dennis John Otteson. Marie was proud of all her grandkids and great grandkids. Marie would later know every one of their names and would do special things for each of them.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents John Nicholas Eichers, Maud Mabel Kate Sly, and siblings: Loraine Spitko, Jasper William Eichers, Arthur Sidney “Art” Eichers, and granddaughter Nicole Marie Viklund.
Survived by her oldest brother, Jack Nicholas Eichers; children: Karen Marie Grenz (Andy) of Central Valley Utah, Kevin J Otteson (Lisa), and Dennis John Otteson (Karen) both of Salt Lake City; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A very special thanks and love goes out to her granddaughter Jennifer Viklund Draper and Scott Little for taking Mom into their home for the last days of her life and loving her to the end.
