Marianne Nile Stens Snyder

December 10, 1940 — May 29, 2019

Marianne Nile Stens Snyder, age 78, passed away surrounded by her family in her cherished home on May 29, 2019. She was born on December 10, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold Berge Hansen and Mable Lindsay Hansen Stens. She recognized Otto Stens as her loving father. She married Raymond Charles Snyder in which they later divorced; yet remained as friends.
Marianne had no fears of trying new things. She loved to sew. Scott and Dennie sported clothing made by their mom. She also made quilts for baby shower gifts and large quilts for those lucky enough to receive one. Marianne was an excellent cook in which she fed anyone who visited. She was great at canning and making plum jam. Marianne also loved the sport of tennis and her proudest accomplishment was playing Senior Olympics where she brought home the gold medal. The thing she was most proud of was her open-door home to anyone and everyone, and family she raised.
Marianne is survived by her two sons Dennie (Mary) and Scott, five grandchildren Todd, Heather, Trista, Zach and Drake, and six great grandchildren Mariah, Alexus, JR, Abigail, Nevaeh, and Vincent, as well as three siblings: Carol Ann, Lindsay, and Richard “Dick”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Ralph, Ray, Carl, Kate, and Bobby, granddaughter Chea Johns, and beloved friend Don Catron.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 with a friends and family gathering one-hour prior. Interment to follow at the same location.
Marianne’s honest and outspoken nature will be missed by all who knew her.
