Maria Juanita Sanchez Perea passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017.  She was born in New Mexico on October 3, 1922 to Acension and Salvador Sanchez, she was the first of seven children.
Maria married Press Perea on July 1, 1940.  They moved to Utah in 1951.
Maria worked at Hazen’s Nursing Home for 31 years.  She cared for the elderly with love and compassion.
She was a long-time member of the Church of God of Prophecy.  She worked in the kitchen at youth camp for years, always adding something special to the plain camp food they served. We will all miss her beans, chili, tortillas, eggs, vescochitos and rice pudding.
Maria is survived by sons, Marvin (Inez) Perea, their family, Troy, Chris, MaCayla and Kaylee; Jack (Reggie) Perea, their family, Alisha Vallarejo and Sophia; Justine and Ron Boone, Cody  Cameryn, Press (Marjeana) Perea and their family, Serina and Ted Lewis, Joshua, Zeke, Isaiah and Jacob, Ruben Perea and his famiy, Mike, Garrett and Venita, Anthony, Felicia, Monique and Robert Payne and Amelia, Jeremy, Fred (Susan) Perea and their family Michael Anthony (Violanda), Suntana, Sabrina, Veronica and Adrian, Shannon and Justin Gull and their family Jordan, Harley and Riley; daughters, Truiva (Ralph) Calvillo and their family, Brian, Meghan and Shane Higman, Riley and Ahna, Draise and Colton, Yvette and Ben Castillo, Beny and  Cheyenne, Shiree and Ames Cox, TaSheena and Ryatt, Liz Lanford and her children, Mary Jane (Mike) Pixton, Marci and Jeremy, Austin and Brandy, Emmy and Ivie, Shaun, Grady and Neesha, Thelma Villalobos, and her son Corey (Karen) Hodges and their children, Crystal, Jaxton and Zaylan, Kylie, Chance and Chase, Stella’s family Mike Tafoya and their children, Evie Nique and Mario Nava and Marcus, Maelessa and Miguel, Adriane (Rick) Lopez, Devyn and Bella, Amanda (Rolando) Arias and Destiny, Berlynn (Floyd) Duncan and their children, Shane (Kim) Danielle, Gabrielle and Shantelle, Donovan, Danny (Danielle), Miranda and Daniel Jr, Karen (Mario) Cisneros and their children, Scooter and MJ and Salvador; her dear sister, Lillie Waldron; her brother, Ben Sanchez; sister-in-law’s, Lea Sanchez, Louise Sanchez and Rosalie Sanchez.  Maria also leaves a host of friends, John and Frances Ruybal who she loved like her own and they in turn loved her; her church family; her long time neighbors on Lester Street, in the home she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Dale, Willie and Henry; sister, Sally; daughter, Stella; son-in-law, Harvey, John Villalbos; grandsons, Richard Hodges and Brian Gallegos.  She leaves behind so many nieces and nephews who all had a special place in her heart.
Maria loved her children and her grandchildren, praying for them daily.  She always ended a conversation with “just pray that God be with you.”
Mom will be laid to rest with our dad whom she joined on their 77th Wedding Anniversary.  Rest now mom, where there is no pain, no worry, no tears.  We love you.
A Viewing will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary.  Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.
Interment at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
