Murray

Margret Luwanna “Lu” Larson, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed from this life peacefully surrounded by family on January 19, 2025, at the age of 95. Lu was an extraordinary woman who always put others first and will be greatly missed.

Lu was born on May 13, 1929 in Millville, Utah to George and Marion Jessop. She grew up with 4 siblings and she spent a lot of time with her grandparents who lived in the house behind theirs.

After moving to the big city of Salt Lake with her sisters, Lu met and married Frank Parker Larson, on December 23, 1951. They shared 55 wonderful years together. Lu was a supportive and loving wife to Frank who was in the motion picture industry and his career took them to several states before settling in Murray, Utah. They had 2 sons, Randy Frank and Brad Parker. Lu was a wonderful mother to her children, loving and very involved.

Lu’s greatest passion was her family and she loved spending her time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed their sports or events, often juggling several in a day. She was a huge sports fan and especially loved baseball, the New York Yankees and of course, the Utah Jazz. Lu was amazing in the kitchen and she regularly cooked our requested favorites for Sunday dinners, holidays, and birthday dinners. She always made extra for all the friends we brought with us as she happily welcomed and fed them too. Lu was a beautiful, strong and classy lady who was always very “put together” with her sophisticated sense of fashion. Even till the end, she liked her hair curled, nails painted and she loved to wear her lipstick and perfume. Lu was extremely intelligent and very quick witted. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, auto-biographys and anything that peaked her interest and expanded her broad knowledge. She read the newspaper and completed the daily crossword puzzle with coffee every single morning and was always current in world events and politics.

After retiring from a long career as the Administrative Assistant for the Utah State Board of Regents, she spent her retirement golfing, gardening in her yard and even more emerged in family time.

Lu is survived by her son Randy Larson, 4 grandchildren; Jamie Lightner, Ginee (Justin) Nelson, Cole (Mindy) Larson, Melissa Larson, 7 great-grandchildren; Anthony Redmond, Kyler Nelson, Evan White, Xavian Lightner, Easton Larson, Kadence Nelson, Bo Larson, and 1 great-great grandchild, Frankie Redmond.

She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Larson, son Brad Larson, daughter-in-law Peggy Larson, parents George and Marion Jessop and siblings; Robert Jessop, Richard Jessop, Frances “Zeze” Youse and Barbara Martin.

Her kindness, generosity and unconditional love for her family will leave an enduring mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

Grams we will miss you so much!

To honor her wishes, her cremains will be combined with her late husbands and scattered by her immediate family.
