Margot Diana Ferrel Palma

On Monday, October 12 in the year of 2020, our beloved and beautiful wife, mother, aunt, sister, and new grandmother, Margot Diana Ferrel Palma, left her earthly body and returned in spirit to her loving Heavenly Father and beloved Savior.
Margot was born on March 1, 1955 in Lima, Peru to Gregorio Amador Palma Mena and Bertha Alejandrina Gamarra Navarro. She was the middle of five children. She loved her family dearly and even when out of state or country, took it upon herself to talk to family, including nieces and nephews. She always reached out to her siblings and her parents. She was very close to her mother, Bertha.
From an early age, Margot had a great imagination and natural leadership skills.  When only 4 to 5 years old, she loved to ride the electric trains and would shout out whatever was on her mind to all the passengers.  She enjoyed creating and telling stories to her siblings and friends about “Don Pariona”, a local rancher.  She would watch the operations at the ranch and use it as a backdrop for her fictitious characters.  When her mother worked, she helped fix meals and watched over her youngest brother.
Margot was tenacious about completing her goals and was particularly passionate about her schooling.  In spite of the family’s financial scarcity, she graduated second to the top of her High School related to her outstanding academic success.  When in High School, she enrolled in a two-year cosmetology course that she attended in the evenings.  Her mother supported her efforts by purchasing the equipment necessary to open a salon in her home.  Upon completing High School, she completed her Administrative Assistant training and started to work for the government.
Margot was described as loving, warm, affectionate, smart, stylish, friendly, an advisor, full of laughter, and Christ-like. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Peru Lima Norte mission. Her missionary enthusiasm ignited interest in her sister and brother that both served as missionaries at the same time. Later in life she and her husband took time to serve to the temple. She served in various callings and was very dedicated to whatever she did. Margot loved meeting someone new. She had a way of making people feel welcome even if she had just met you. She would talk to random people wherever she went and spread love and joy to them all. Margot married James Ray Ferrel in the Salt Lake Utah Temple on April 26, 1985. She was incredibly committed to her husband and children ensuring that they were learning everyday. She was full of advice and was always willing to give it. There were times that she would reach out based on a feeling and it was just what her children needed. Her husband was amazed on how much she would give to her children and still have enough to give to others. Margot was a woman of traditions. She loved holidays, especially Christmas. Her house was not just a house or a building, but a warm, loving and safe home to everyone who entered. She had impeccable taste in decorating for any occasion. She was a great fan of operas and symphonies. One trait that everyone knew about Margot was that she also had a remarkable sense of style. She always made sure that her children and husband would not leave the house without looking their best. Margot was an incredible cook of many cuisines. She loved sharing her talents and her Peruvian culture, whether it be to fellow church members, her children’s school classmates, or even extended family.
She was always determined to make her way in the world.  When in Costa Rica, she faced the unknown, yet knew that’s where she needed to be.  She worked in the Infancia National with trouble abuse children and families, where she gained a love for children that helped form a commitment to adopt in later life.  She followed her sister to Utah for better future. She loved caring for people and worked as a live-in assistant to disabled and elderly people. When the opportunity presented itself she worked to fulfill her lifelong dream to become a nurse.  She did not take the easy way.  She continued her education, started in the Master’s Program and graduated in 2018.   Almost immediately, she was accepted as a Doctoral Candidate.  She was one year away from graduating.  The nursing philosophy of bringing the whole individual to a state of wellness was greatly appealing to her.  She was able to apply it to everything; from her work environment, church and to her family.
Her family will miss her terribly but knows that they will see her again. We love you, Margot.
Margot was preceded by death by her parents. She is survived by her husband (James), her children, Steffanie (David), Vanessa (Jenna), and Timothy (Haylee), her grandchild Derek, and her siblings, Robert (Gladys), Wilbert (Deanna), Nelida (Roger) and Martin (Rosa).

El lunes 12 de octubre del año 2020, nuestra amada y hermosa esposa, madre, tía, hermana y una reciente abuela, Margot Diana Palma Ferrel, dejó su cuerpo terrenal y regresó en espíritu a su amoroso Padre Celestial y amado Salvador.
Margot nació el 1 de marzo de 1955 en Lima, Perú de Gregorio Amador Palma Mena y Bertha Alejandrina Gamarra Navarro. Ella era la tercera de cinco hijos. Amaba mucho a su familia e incluso cuando estaba fuera del estado o del país, se encargaba de hablar con la familia, incluidos sus sobrinos y sobrinas. Siempre se contactaba con sus hermanos y padres y tenía muy buena relación con su madre, Bertha.
Desde muy temprana edad, Margot tenía una gran imaginación y cualidades de líder.  Cuando Margot tenía 4-5 años de edad, ella le gustaba mucho pasear en el tranvía y hacer saber a los pasajeros que a pesar de su edad y estatura ella importante.  Margot disfrutaba compartiendo sus historias a la familia y amigos de “Don Pariona” que era el capataz del rancho en sus labores diarias y Margot compartía sus observaciones de este personaje.  Cuando su mama Bertha salía a trabajar en las tardes Margot tomaba el roll de madre para su hermano menor y alimentar a la familia.
Margot era muy determinante en conseguir todas sus metas especialmente en sus estudios en la secundaria.  Ella termino sus estudios secundarios en el segundo puesto con honores a pesar de los escasos recursos financieros. Durante su último ano en la secundario por las noches se matriculo y completo dos años de estudios requeridos de cosmetología.  Margot decidió abrir su salón de belleza en la casa y su mama la ayudo comprando el equipo, herramientas, tintes y lo necesario para que ella abra su negocio. Buscando por mas educación Margo se matriculo y termino sus estudios de secretariado y fue a trabajar como secretaria para el Ministerio de Transporte. Ahorro su dinero para poder buscar más éxito sirviendo al Señor.
Margot fue conocida como una persona amorosa, genuina, cariñosa, inteligente, elegante, amigable, una consejera, con buen sentido del humor y una leal seguidora de Jesucristo. Margot sirvió su misión para la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días en la misión Perú-Lima Norte. Su deseo de servir motivo a sus otros hermanos a que también pudieran servir como misioneros al mismo tiempo. En en los siguiente años, ella y su esposo disfrutaban su tiempo de servicio en el templo. Ella sirvió en diferentes llamamientos y era muy dedicada en todo lo que hacía. A Margot le encantaba conocer a personas. Ella tenía una forma peculiar de ser que hacía que las personas se sintieran bienvenidas aun si recién las conocía, y su amor y alegría hacia ellos era contagiosa. Margot se selló a James Ray Ferrel en el Templo de Salt Lake, Utah, un 26 de abril de 1985. Estaba completamente dedicada a su esposo e hijos y siempre se  aseguraba que ellos aprendieran todos los días. Ella estaba llena de consejos y siempre estaba dispuesta a darlos. En ciertas ocasiones seguía sus sentimientos y respondía al llamado de sus hijos. Su esposo se asombraba de todo lo que le daba a sus hijos y aún tendría suficientemente más para dar a los demás. Margot era una mujer de tradiciones. Le encantaban las fechas festivas, especialmente la Navidad. Su casa no era solo una casa o un edificio, sino un hogar cálido, amoroso y seguro para todos los que entraban. Tenía un gusto impecable en la decoración para cualquier ocasión. Era una gran aficionada a las óperas y sinfonías. Un rasgo que todo el mundo conocía de Margot era que también tenía un notable sentido del estilo. Ella siempre se aseguraba de que sus hijos y su esposo no salieran de casa sin verse de lo mejor.  Margot fue una cocinera increíble de muchos platos. Le encantaba compartir sus talentos y su cultura peruana, ya sea con los miembros de la iglesia, los compañeros de la escuela de sus hijos o incluso miembros de su familia.
Siempre estuvo decidida a abrirse camino en el mundo. Toda su vida Margot tuvo un amor por el aprendizaje. De joven, viajó de Perú a Costa Rica, enfrentándose a lo desconocido y, sin embargo, sabiendo que era allí donde tenía que estar. Trabajó en la Infancia National CR donde desarrollo amor por los niños con familias con desafíos lo cual le ayudó a formar un compromiso para adoptar en la vida. Siguió a su hermana a Utah por mejores oportunidades.  Le encantaba cuidar a las personas y trabajaba como asistente interna para personas discapacitadas y mayores. Cuando se presentó la oportunidad, trabajó para cumplir el sueño de toda su vida de convertirse en enfermera. Ella no tomó el camino fácil. Continuó su educación, comenzó en el Programa de Maestría y se graduó en 2018. Casi de inmediato, fue aceptada como candidata a doctorado y le faltaba un año para graduarse. La filosofía de enfermería de llevar a todo las personas a un estado de bienestar le resultaba muy atractiva. Pudo aplicarlo a todas las personas que tenía a su alrededor y con su familia.
Su familia la extrañará terriblemente pero sabe que la volverán a ver. Te amamos, Margot.  Margot fue precedida por la muerte de sus padres. Le sobreviven su esposo (James), sus hijos, Steffanie (David), Vanessa (Jenna) y Timothy (Haylee), su nieto Derek y sus hermanos, Robert (Gladys), Wilbert (Deanna), Nelida (Roger ) y Martín (Rosa).
