Margareth Van Minde (Gre) peacefully left us in her sleep on April 30 2017 at the age of 88. Our beloved mother, Oma, and great Oma, will be deeply missed. She was a true Christian in every way – always loving, accepting, and giving to all. Oma touched everyone she met with her cheer and help. Her Joy for her family shined as an example to us all.
She was born Margaretha Van Vulpen in the Netherlands, February 22, 1929. As a child, she suffered through war and hunger. She met the love of her life William B. Van Minde (Ben) who came to Holland from the Dutch Indies. They were married in 1956 and lived in Amsterdam with the first 2 of their 5 children. After WWII, housing and opportunity were scarce. In 1960, they immigrated to the USA with little money and great expectations. Sponsored by the Christian Reformed Church, in Salt Lake City, they joined 40 other Dutch families to form a lifelong community that still exists.
She was preceded in death by her husband William B Van Minde (2002) and her sons Peter (2006) and Paul (1971). Living children, Irene (Eric) Sadler, Ralph Van Minde, & Jeffrey (Mary) Van Minde; Grandchildren – Brandon, Derek, Lindsey, Gavin, Griffin, Sam; Great grandchildren – Landon, Kylie, Journey.
