Margaret Davenport Hansen passed from this mortal existence on August 23, 2024. She was born on August 26, 1925, in Paragonah Utah. She was the seventh child of William T. and Edith Wade Davenport. She had six sisters and one brother. Her family enjoyed singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments together. She continued to sing and hum songs from her childhood throughout her life.
After graduating from Parowan High School she and a friend moved to Salt Lake City where she met her husband Kay Orme Hansen roller skating while he was on leave from the Navy. They married on June 4, 1945, in the Manti Temple. They had one daughter and five sons.
During sixty-nine years of marriage, they traveled the world together with friends and family. They split time living in both Murray and Nephi for many years.
Card games allowed us to see a different side to our otherwise loving, kind, and patient mother. Her competitive spirit would consume her and sometimes her language was surprising.
She served in her community and various church callings, all while absolutely spoiling her husband.
The biannual sister’s parties she hosted were legendary. Although she was raised during the great depression she had it all.
Survived by her children Kay Eugene Hansen, Carrie Joy Simpson (Lloyd), James D Hansen, Hal Wade Hansen (Lori), Mark W Hansen (Brandon), and Lynn Gordon Hansen (Rina). 19-Grandchildren 46-Great Grandchildren 6- Great, Great Grandchildren.
During her nearly 99 years she was able to see so many changes but perhaps through her example many of us may have been changed the most.
