Marc Shelton

November 21, 1959 — March 15, 2022

Marc Mallette Shelton was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 21, 1959 to K.E. Shelton and Retta G. Mallette Shelton. The middle child of five siblings and the first boy, he was blessed with a mischievous smile and red hair or “copper brown” as his dad liked to say. He loved his family and spent his life with them in the Salt Lake Valley. From an early age he liked anything with wheels – toy trucks, cars, bikes, wagons – if it moved on wheels he wanted to push, pull or ride it. As he grew, he increased his interests to include motorized vehicles – cars, trucks, motorcycles. It was no surprise he drove trucks for a living. He had a knack for mechanical things and was curious about fixing things and how they worked from an early age. He liked animals and was kind to them and loved his dogs, but also had pet chickens and a cockatiel. He liked camping, but more so fishing and a good campfire. He was interested in many things and could offer an opinion that would make you think as he often had a perspective that differed from the norm. He devoted himself to being a caregiver for his mother during the last years of her life. He had faith in God and Christ and was a good person, learning about the scriptures from his dad and mom, and his life showed he was a good son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle and a loyal friend. He will be missed for his unique sense of humor, as a good fishing buddy, and for his skills as a backyard mechanic. He also had a talent for teasing his family and friends, and we will miss that too! We were blessed to know him, and the world here is a little dimmer while the spirit world is a little brighter with his presence there. Marc is survived by his sisters Rebecca Gilgen, Meretta (Kevin) England, brother Matthew Mallette Shelton, brother-in-law Jim Gorton, many dear nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and his dog, Danny. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, K.E. and Retta Shelton, his sister Stephanie Kaye Shelton
Gorton, niece Teresa Marie Shelton and nephew Nathan Kaye Gorton.
