Manfred Norbert Fiedel age 87 died on September 6, 2016, in the arms of his sweetheart. He was born on April 4, 1929, in Breslau Germany to Paul Robert Fiedel and Emma Ida Vogt. He married Erika Rudolf (later divorced). He immigrated to the United States in 1955 where he found his eternal soulmate. He married Erika Poepel on May 22, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been married for 57 years. She is the love of his life. He always made sure that his beloved wife was taken care of. He always put his family first before himself. He showed everyone he knew what love was really about.
At age 15 he was drafted into World War II. At age 17 he was a counselor for the LDS Church, and at age 19 he was the branch president. Later he served an LDS mission in Germany for two years. He earned a Master M Men Certificate. He played the piano in the church and served many callings.
He and his brother Horst Fiedel started a new business- Creative Stone. They both worked many hours to achieve a successful business. Many LDS Chapels have used their stones.
He loved to travel, hike, dancing, ski and especially gardening with his beloved wife and children. He was a very hard worker and always put his family first and made sure they were provided for. He was full of humor, love, and compassion. He made a big impact on everyone he knew and met.
He is survived by his lovely wife Erika Fiedel; Sibling Brigitte (Manfred) Deus; Children: Angelika (Brian) Christensen, Ursula (Ron) Witzel, Roland (Danielle) Fiedel, Christina Fiedel, Maurice (Jessica) Fiedel; 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Emma Fiedel, Siblings Margaret Sanger, Isolde Welker, and Horst Fiedel, and granddaughter Courtnie.
Special thanks to Envision Hospice for the extended service and love that they provided. We like to particularly thank Granddaughters Michelle, Stephanie, McKell and Grandson Kevin for the extra love and support that they contributed to their Oma and Opa during his last days. A special thanks goes to Judy Swilor for her love and kindness.
Funeral service and interment will be held on Saturday Sep. 10th at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights. A viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 am, with services to follow at 11:00 am.Service Information
