Our beloved Father and Husband Majid "Mike" Omana passed away Saturday August 3rd at the age of 97, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 28th, 1926 in Tehran Iran. At the age of 21 he emigrated to the US with Fifty Dollars in his pocket and the American Dream on his mind. He learned English, worked hard and received his High School diploma and graduated from Westminster University.
He married Birgit Andersen March 1952, who immigrated from Denmark, and they had 7 incredible children. He had more friends than he could count, built a thriving business, and loved nature, skiing (which he did until he was 93), boating, cars, gardening (whistling while gardened), music, animals, Persian food, and backgammon.
Majid had a positive attitude that was infectious. He became a US citizen and lived his American dream. He was extraordinarily patriotic and loved his country. He shared his passions with his family and friends and his zest for life was legendary. He was fond of saying “I am the luckiest man in the whole world”.
Majid and Birgit divorced and he eventually married Parvin Zand July 1985. She was his loving and caring spouse until he passed. She survives him as do his children Farhad Omana, Shirin Cannon (Nelson), Sousan Sweeny (Peter), Majid Omana (Kelly), Hamid Omana (Dianne), Tay Omana, Karim Omana (Kelene), and Parvin’s children Fariba Zand Von Leer (Hunter), Mina Rose (Brent), Dariush Zand (Debbie), his brother Massud Omana (Iran), 21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, trusted friend Bijan Fakhrieh, ”adopted sons” Ben Hall and Mark Marquardson, and many friends and associates.
The family would like to thank loving neighbors and friends who served Majid and Parvin so faithfully and those who served Majid at the MBK living center.
Dad requested that guests attending his funeral not wear black. He has also requested in lieu of flowers, please donate funds to your charity of choice.
