Mabel Grace Flanders Griffiths
1945 – 2017
Mabel Grace Flanders Griffiths, age 71, passed away surrounded by loved ones in St. George, UT on Thursday, May 18, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer. Mabel was born December 13, 1945, in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Alma Reid Flanders and Edna Laura Pollick.
Mabel had a beautiful singing voice and could always be caught singing or whistling a happy tune. Mabel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ and excelled in all her callings.
Mabel enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, doing genealogy, watching sappy romance movies and taking care of her chickens. But, Mabel’s greatest passion was her family.
On June 4, 1965 Mabel married Dilworth Griffiths in the Salt Lake Temple, but later divorced. She was blessed with six children; Aaron, Miriam, Naomi, Zenas, Nathanial, and Rachel. And those that were privileged to call her mother-in-law, Kym (Nathaniel) and Trent (Rachel). Her love for her grandchildren could not be surpassed: Jordan, Tyler, Samantha, Brittani, Dillon, Kaytlynn, Abbigale, Brielle, Brindee, Beklynn, Brinklee, Nichole, and Cole.
Mabel is survived by siblings, Mary, Polly, Cindy, Mildred, Paul and Claude; she is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert.
Mabel was a stunning light in the lives of many and now that light is going to be greatly missed. The love that Mabel shared with all those who knew her will never be forgotten. Mabel will be loved in the hearts of many. We miss you mom! Til’ we meet again.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123.
