M. Brent Carlisle passed away on February 10, 2017 from natural causes. Brent was born September 26, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Garnett Walpole Carlisle and Lulu Erickson Carlisle and was the fourth of six children. He is survived by his children: Matt and Brenda Carlisle, by his second wife, Audrey Carlisle and by his brother, Allen (Maria Ray) Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jeanne Anderson Carlisle and by his three sisters: Vee Carlisle, Beverly (Grant) Powell, Marilyn (John) David and by his brother G. Willis (Mareen) Carlisle.
Brent was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the closing days of World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Brent attended the University of Utah and then went to work for Utah Oil. He worked in the business for many years, working for Sperry UNIVAC, Boyles Brothers Drilling Company and Christensen Diamond Tools.
Brent married Norma Jeanne Anderson in the fall of 1954. Their loving marriage would last for 30 years until Jeanne’s untimely passing on February 23, 1984 after a heroic 14 month fight against breast cancer. Brent was then a widower until he married the second love of his life, Audrey Darrington on May 7, 1993. Audrey was a constant loving companion and they travelled extensively together across the United States and Mexico. Audrey was a loving and compassionate caregiver to Brent and was instrumental in maintaining his health late in life.
Brent was known for his love of the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He constructed his own cabin, largely by his own two hands, in the mountains above Heber, Utah and enjoyed actively working there in the outdoors well into his eighties, a life well lived.
